A group of Three Peaks walkers called North Yorkshire Police when one of the group (m, 33) went missing between Whernside summit and Philpin Lane after experiencing some difficulties. A team vehicle checked Philpin Lane up to the Hill Inn but failed to locate the missing walker. A Three Peaks walker (f, 52) experienced severe pain in her left leg while descending the rocky path from Whernside summit, eventually becoming unable to continue. A climber (m, 75) walked up to the Giggleswick Scar (North) crag, but collapsed immediately on arrival. Despite the best efforts of his companions at CPR, then the protracted efforts of YAS paramedics, he could not be revived.
