While competing in the Three Peaks Race, a runner (m, 20) tripped on the approach to the summit of Pen y ghent, having run up via Horton Scar Lane. RESCUE COVER for THREE PEAKS RACE. APR 29TH SAT.
A strong team of CRO members attended the 68th Annual Three Peaks Race, based at Horton in Ribblesdale, to carry out ‘kit checks’ on as many as practical of the 699 runners before the start of this ‘marathon with mountains’, then to provide rescue cover. Mike Meredith, 79, an enthusiastic caver and former Controller with the Cave Rescue Organisation was found dead at his house in Kuching, Sarawak, on the morning of Wednesday 11th January 2023.
