CRO was asked by our colleagues in Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) to assist with a search for a missing person in and around the Nidd Gorge near Knaresborough. A team from CRO attended and joined several other mountain rescue teams in searching areas of potential interest, but the missing person was not located. Volunteer hours: 47

A climber (f, 20) on Giggleswick Scar North fell approximately 4m, injuring her left ankle. Team members attended and determined that the awkward climbers’ path back to the car park was unsuitable for a stretcher carry. INCIDENT 50/2023 (same day) 13:00 PEART CRAGS, SETTLE, NORTH YORKSHIRE. MOUNTAIN INCIDENT
A walker (f, 59) fell while crossing a wall, injuring her right shoulder and back. Two team members attended and carried out an initial assessment before transferring care to Yorkshire Air Ambulance paramedics who arrived shortly thereafter. After assessment and treatment, the casualty was able to walk with assistance to a team vehicle. She was driven down to Settle for transfer to a road ambulance. Volunteer hours: 21
INCIDENT 49/2023 JUN. 18th SUN. 10:15 MEALBANK QUARRY, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE. ANIMAL INCIDENT
On the previous day, a team member and a member of the public had spotted a lamb on a ledge near the top of Mealbank Quarry. The lamb was left overnight to give it an opportunity to rescue itself, which is often the safest course for the animal.
