RESCUE COVER for THREE PEAKS RACE. APR 29TH SAT.

A strong team of CRO members attended the 68th Annual Three Peaks Race, based at Horton in Ribblesdale, to carry out ‘kit checks’ on as many as practical of the 699 runners before the start of this ‘marathon with mountains’, then to provide rescue cover. A walker (m, 65) fell (possibly 3 – 4m?) from the climb up the lower waterfall at Gordale Scar. On arrival, team members began assessing the casualty’s injuries before being joined by a YAS paramedic. A walker (m, 73) missed his footing on the edge of the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove, hitting his head on the rock and suffering lower leg and wrist abrasions. A walker (f, 65) was reported to be feeling dizzy and unable to walk further on the steep path above Pike Lane, Langcliffe. Having been on the ground for a while, she tried, unsuccessfully, to stand again, so NYP was asked to call CRO.
