The team were alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to a report of a walker (M, 61) having fallen and injured themselves near Malham Cove. Unable to contact the injured party directly, team members were despatched to the area to carry out a search of the Cove area. The Team were called by North Yorkshire Police to assist 3 walkers (all F, 67,68,70) who had become disorientated in poor visibility and darkness on the summit of Ingleborough. The walkers, who had fading torchlight and phone charge wisely decided to call us and stay put where they were. We were able to pinpoint their exact location using our PhoneFind tool, and a small party was despatched to find them.…
A Three Peaks ‘charity walker’, last seen at 07.30 and heard from while ‘descending Whernside’ at 17.20, was reported missing by someone waiting with transport at Horton car park. A telephone call and a PhoneFind text were not answered, so two team members would set out to do a preliminary check along the road route. At this point, NYP telephoned to say that the misper had caught a train home.…
North Yorkshire Police called the team out to assist a walker (f,35) who had slipped and injured her ankle on the path below Snow Falls. Team members attended and assessed the casualty, administered pain relief, and splinted the ankle. They then stretchered the casualty to a team Land Rover which took her and her party back to their own vehicle for onward transport to hospital. Volunteer hours: 31
