Incident 31/2026, Sunday 24th May 13:50 hrs. Oxenber Scar, Austwick, North Yorkshire

CRO controllers were called by North Yorkshire Police to attend an incident involving a fallen climber at Oxenber scar, unfortunately he had sustained serious injuries requiring a swift response and evacuation. The climber was treated at the scene by our team doctor and RRMT’s and a YAS paramedic. Incident 48/2016 – Jul 3rd Sun. 18.42 – Oxenber Scar, Austwick, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

A climber (M, 31) sustained a badly dislocated/query broken ankle when the handhold he was using gave way, sending the piece of rock down onto his lower leg. He was able to do a controlled descent before calling for help.
