A Three Peaks walker (m, 50) was reported to have collapsed, with CPR being administered by an off-duty paramedic, near the summit of Pen y Ghent. The Yorkshire Air Ambulance also attended. Team members went to the summit plateau and assisted with the transfer and evacuation of the man to the aircraft. The team was alerted by both Cumbria Police and North Yorkshire Police to reports of an adult male who was unconcious and not breathing. Once it was established this was a single incident and the location was close to the summit of Whernside which borders both counties the team was able to respond. A climber (m, 61) fell a reported 3m at Twisleton Scars and suffered lower back pain. Team members and air ambulance paramedics assessed him then put him into a vacuum mattress (‘full body splint’) and on to a stretcher. A Three Peaks walker who had become separated from his walking partner on Pen-y-ghent reported the person missing to North Yorkshire Police, who notified CRO. As the Duty Controller was making preliminary inquiries so that a search could be conducted, the missing walker turned up near Horton in Ribblesdale. Volunteer hours: 1
