North Yorkshire Police passed on a message that two new-born lambs were stuck down a mine shaft, near Gordale House, Malham. CRO caving members were unable to descend very far into the awkward and narrowing natural rift in the limestone bedrock and were unable to see or hear anything. A young person (m 15) was reported missing whilst walking at Malham Cove. He was found safe and well whilst CRO members were on route to Malham. Volunteer hours: 8
Incident 84/2016 – Oct. 6th Thu. 16.04 – Path near Cawden Flats Barn, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.
A school student (f,13) with a medical condition fainted while walking between Malham Cove and Gordale Bridge. When CRO arrived, Yorkshire Ambulance Service personnel were walking her gently to the road ambulance, to be taken to hospital for a check-up. After taking some other students back to the village, CRO stood down, . An air ambulance also attended, but was not used. Volunteer hours: 7
Incident 21/2016 – April 13th Tue. 15.05 – Janet’s Foss, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue
A walker (m,69) was reported to have fallen and suffered an ankle injury on a wooded path near Janet’s Foss. Team members quickly transported the walker by stretcher to a CRO vehicle, and he was then driven to a road ambulance at Malham National Park Visitor Centre for transfer to hospital.
