The team were contacted about concerns for a walker doing the 3 peaks who was 2 hours overdue, having not returned home at the expected time, and had also not responded to messages to his phone. A woman reported that her daughter, undertaking the 3 Yorkshire Peaks alone, was stuck ‘near a steep drop’, ‘somewhere on Ingleborough’, with a failing phone battery. With thick cloud limiting visibility to about 5 metres, the walker had lost confidence and was unable to find her way off, having only a guide book for directions. Incident 70/2017 – Sep. 9th Sat. 19.48 – Simon Fell Breast, Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

A Three Peaks walker’s knees were reported to have ‘given way, on Ingleborough, 7 miles from Horton’. After some delay, while a more accurate location was identified, a small group of CRO members met the party (f, 37, 30, 40) and assisted them down to a team Land Rover.
