The team were alerted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), who were requesting assistance with a visitor (F 49) who had injured herself whilst at Scaleber Force waterfall, near Settle. Fortunately, whilst we were mobilising, the YAS crew had been able to assist the injured party to their nearby vehicle and did not need further assistance from us. The team were stood down. INCIDENT 60/2024. AUGUST 19th MON. 12.02 hrs. NORBER BOULDER-FIELD, AUSTWICK, NORTH YORKSHIRE.
A walker (m, 58) fell from one of the ‘Norber boulders’ (glacial erratics) and sustained a serious ankle injury. As team members arrived at the road-head, an air ambulance was circling overhead. North Yorkshire Police called the team to assist a canyoner (f, 14) who had fallen about 9 metres into the River Doe. Her group leaders had brought her out onto the bank, where she was complaining of back pain. Team members attended together with paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service.
