INCIDENT 73/2023 AUG. 31st THU. 13.37 MALHAM COVE, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A visitor (f, 69), with a known medical condition, climbed the steps at the side of Malham Cove, but collapsed on reaching the top. When team members arrived, she had recovered significantly. After assessment by YAS paramedics, the patient was carried by stretcher to an air ambulance which flew her down to Malham for transfer to a road ambulance and the journey to hospital for further assessment. INCIDENT 69/2023 AUG 16th WEDS 12.35 GAPING GILL, INGLEBOROUGH, CLAPHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

Back to Gaping Gill for the Team again today! We received a call from members of the Craven Pothole Club at Gaping Gill that a walker (M, 24) had returned to the site (having left earlier to go for a walk up Ingleborough) complaining of pain in his leg which had become so painful he could not weight bear on it. The Duty Controller was contacted directly by a colleague from Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) who was at the Craven Pothole Club ‘winch meet’ at Gaping Gill. A walker (M, 60) had arrived at the site cold and wet, and had subsequently felt faint. INCIDENT 67/2023 AUG 10th THURS 15.09 THORNTON FORCE, THORNTON-IN-LONSDALE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

Just as the Team were clearing from the previous sheep rescue incident, we were again called by North Yorkshire Police to assist a walker (F, 52) who had injured her ankle near Thornton Force, on the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk.
