The team were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to a visitor (m,66) suffering chest pains at the base of the cove. On arrival, the air ambulance and road crew were in attendance. Team members carried the casualty on a stretcher to the air ambulance, which then conveyed the casualty to the National Park car park, where team members again transferred the casualty to the road ambulance. Alert – April 1st Fri. 22:46 – Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire – Alert only
A caller rang North Yorkshire Police concerned that 2 walkers (m,20) were over two hours overdue from completing the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. As the Controller contacted Police for more information, the walkers turned up safe and well.
Incident 15/2016 – Mar. 23rd Wed. 13:38 – Meal Bank Quarry, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Animal Rescue
The team were called to a sheep reportedly stuck on a ledge, above the quarry. A team of four members attended, and as they began to descend, the sheep (the same sheep from last week?) performed the same self rescue action, and returned to the field. Until next time… Volunteer hours: 4
Incident 14/2016 – Mar. 20th Sun. 17:23 – Pen-y-ghent/Stainforth, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue
A walker (f,39) descending from Pen-y-ghent, missed the footpath to Brackenbottom, and continued south towards Stainforth. Having called for help, she was contacted by the duty Controller, who was able to guide her down to the B6479 at Stainforth. From there, a local team member conveyed her back to Horton in Ribblesdale. Volunteer hours: 1 hour 40 minutes.
