ALERT Only – Jun 27th Sun. 13.42 – Ledge over Gaping Gill main shaft, Clapham, North Yorkshire – Alert No. 6 of 2021

A CRO member, out leading a school group (his ‘day-job’), saw a sheep apparently stranded on the ledge at the top of the main shaft into the Gaping Gill main chamber. He passed the information on, but thought the sheep might ‘self-rescue’ if left. The following morning, the Duty Controller diverted his morning run to check the site, but the sheep was no longer there. Local farmers were gathering there…

INCIDENT 42/2021 – JUNE 27th SUN. 12.53 – TURBARY ROAD, THORNTON IN LONSDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A trail-riding motorcyclist (m, 60) caught his wheel in a rut, causing him to collide with a wall, while riding along the Turbary Road in Kingsdale. CRO members responded when the rider was reported to have arm and back injuries. INCIDENT 41/2021 – JUNE 26th SAT. 08.24 – PEN-Y-GHENT (LAST CLIMB TO SUMMIT), NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

A Three Peaks walker (f, 34) slipped on the last climb (the second tier) of the ascent of Pen-y-ghent, falling about 3 metres and landing on her hip. Locations given were variable, but members headed for Dale Head and Churn Milk Hole and either walked all the way up or were ferried part-way up the hill in the Honda Pioneer. INCIDENT 40/2021 – JUNE 24th THU. 13.52 – PLANTATION Nr SWITCHERS FARM, HELLIFIELD, NORTH YORKSHIRE – LOCAL INCIDENT

Team members who had gone to the casualty at Malham drove to a farm near Hellifield after YAS received a report of a worker (m, 67) whose legs were trapped ‘under a wall’.
