A walker (m, 70) was unwell on the limestone pavement at the top of Malham Cove. A Community Safety Officer and a team member were first on scene and the casualty appeared to be recovering. However, after initial assessment, they handed over to the YAS paramedics from YAA, who decided to fly him direct to hospital, rather than down to the village, where a road ambulance was waiting. Team members used a stretcher and casualty bag for the carry to the helicopter, then stood down, with some returning to Clapham to clean and re-load equipment.
The initial call was transferred from UWFRA, our neighbours based at Grassington. Their kind offer of assistance turned out not to be needed.

Footnote: Some find that the ascent of the steps to the top of Malham Cove is not to be undertaken too lightly.
