A walker, descending from Ingleborough to Horton in Ribblesdale, told NYP that he had seen triple flashes of light repeatedly for 15 minutes from the summit of Pen y ghent. Small groups of team members walked the paths to and over the summit in rain and high wind. Checks were also made for any aircraft or military activity in the area, but nothing was found. A walker (f, 31) slipped from a stile at Pen y ghent summit, sustaining a knee/lower leg injury. North Yorkshire Police tasked the team to assist a walker (m, 46) descending from Pen y ghent who was unable to continue due to the combined effects of a pre-existing medical condition and exhaustion. With the walker’s location known and accessible by off-road vehicle, two members in a team Land Rover attended and transported the walker back to Horton in Ribblesdale. Volunteer hours: 4
INCIDENT 70/2024. SEPTEMBER 16TH 20:17 HRS. PENYGHENT, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE NORTH YORKSHIRE
The team was alerted by North Yorkshire Police for two missing female walkers believed to be on Penyghent. With darkness falling they had become disorientated after changing their descent route. Once their location was established, team members were able to reach their location in CRO vehicles and drive them safely back to Horton car park. Volunteer hours: 28
