A walker (f, 60) slipped on wet limestone, twisting her knee, so that she couldn’t walk. Having immobilised her leg, CRO members helped her onto a stretcher and sledged/carried her to a team vehicle, then drove her down to Malham car park, to meet the road ambulance. After assessment by Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedics, she was transferred to the family car for the journey to a hospital near her home.…

Almost as soon as the lamb-rescue group was committed to the 2 km off-road drive to the Gritstone Pot area of Ingleboroough, a member of an expedition group (f, 15) was reported to have a knee injury, above the path from Gordale Bridge towards the Malham Raikes road. On arrival, team members found that she was in no pain, but her knees had locked so that she could not walk…

A walker was reported to have broken an ankle, about half-way up the steps to the top of Malham Cove. Two YAS ambulance technicians were on scene when CRO members arrived. The patient was given pain-relief and had his injured leg splinted, before being put into a vacuum mattress and onto a stretcher. He was sledged and carried down to a team vehicle for later transfer to a road ambulance.…

A school student (f, 13) slipped and sustained an apparently serious lower leg injury on the path from the Rakes road to Malham Cove. Having been given pain relief by the YAS paramedic, she was carried to a waiting road ambulance for transport to hospital. Volunteer hours: 10
