A 71yo, whilst assisting with a group of paragliding enthusiasts, slipped on rocks and sustained a deep laceration to his right shin, and was unable to walk. The team conveyed a Yorkshire Ambulance Service paramedic to the casualties location, and then packaged the casualty for sledging by stretcher back to the road ambulance. From there he was conveyed to hospital for further treatment. Volunteer hours: 17

Incident 36/2018 – Jun. 4th Mon 18.52 Malham Cove, Malham, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue
A walker was reported to have broken an ankle, about half-way up the steps to the top of Malham Cove. Two YAS ambulance technicians were on scene when CRO members arrived. The patient was given pain-relief and had his injured leg splinted, before being put into a vacuum mattress and onto a stretcher. A female walker slipped and fell descending Pen-y-ghent sustaining a suspected fracture to her right ankle. She was carried by passers-by to within 500m of the road before being met by team members, who were called by North Yorkshire Police.
