INCIDENT 45/2024. (same day) 14.15 WHITE SCAR CAVE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE

A visitor (m, 75) was reported to have collapsed in the Battlefield Chamber of White Scar Cave — the furthermost part of the show cave — but was now ‘sat up with a cave guide’ and unable to walk. After a thorough assessment by the team’s doctor, the patient was carried by stretcher to the cave entrance and handed over to YAS personnel who were waiting with a road ambulance.…

INCIDENT 17/2024. APRIL 3rd WED. 14.53  TWISLETON GLEN, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE

A walker (m, 34) stumbled on the return leg of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, sustaining a very painful ankle injury. After the team doctor had assessed the injury and given mild pain relief, team members splinted the ankle and stretchered the casualty to Beezleys. Whilst the team were busy deploying to the previous incident, a further call was received from North Yorkshire Police to assist with a visitor (M, 14yrs) at the Ingleton Waterfalls Walk who had been taken ill whilst on the trail. A well-intentioned walker expressed the concern of several visitors that an ‘elderly’ couple were struggling on the return leg of the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and believed that one of the pair may have had a fall, already. When the CRO duty controller asked team members to show their availability for a local search, one gave a description of two people he had seen returning to their car and driving away.…
