Alert – Mar. 17th Sat. 20.15 Three Peaks area, North Yorkshire – Alert only

Four walkers (all m) were reported overdue on a Three Peaks walk, with a strong, bitterly cold wind blowing the snow. They had left the Station Inn, Ribblehead, at 07.00, being seen to head towards Whernside. Fortunately, they returned to the Inn (thirteen and a half hours later), just as the duty controller was phoning other pubs in the area. Volunteer time: 15 minutes  

Incident 89/2017 – Dec. 23rd Sat. 15.55 – Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

CRO team members braved darkness and dense fog, in wet and very windy conditions, when they sought to locate and assist a 3-peaks walker (m 33), who had reported himself lost on Ingleborough. The walker was discovered by CRO on the very summit of Ingleborough and he was found to be suffering from severe hypothermia. Incident 76/2017 – Oct. 7th Sat. 13.00 – Three Peaks path, above High Birkwith, Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

A Three Peaks walker (f, 32) slipped on the muddy path between the Old Ing and Nether Lodge tracks, fracturing an ankle. A companion rang the Police and while the call was being transferred from Lancashire Constabulary to North Yorkshire Police, a member of RAF Leeming MRT chanced by. Incident 62/2016 – Aug. 7th Sun. 23.27 – Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

Three walkers (f37, f33, m33) having completed Ingleborough as part of a “3 peaks” walk, reported themselves lost in darkness, rain and low cloud during their descent of the hill. They had strayed a little way off the path near to Sulber, but were found by a CRO team at 1.00am and escorted to their own vehicle parked at Horton in Ribblesdale. Volunteer hours: 20
