INCIDENT 79/2022  SEP. 25th SUN. 16.20 WHITE SCAR CAVE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE – CAVE INCIDENT

A visitor (m, 77) with a known heart condition experienced chest pain on reaching the top of the stairs into the Battlefield Chamber, the most remote part of the show cave. Use of the medication he carried with him had no effect so the cave manager asked North Yorkshire Police to call CRO. Team members administered oxygen, which relieved the patient’s pain almost totally, but his pulse was very irregular and its range was very varied. Team members helped the patient into a stretcher to be lowered down the metal stairs then put that onto a low-profile  wheel assembly to bring him out of the cave. He was then transferred to a waiting road ambulance which, after further assessment by YAS paramedics, took him to hospital
