A climber (f, 20) on Giggleswick Scar North fell approximately 4m, injuring her left ankle. Team members attended and determined that the awkward climbers’ path back to the car park was unsuitable for a stretcher carry. While one group assessed the injured climber, another group rigged the crag for lowering. The climber’s ankle was immobilised with a vacuum splint and the climber was strapped into a Bell stretcher. The stretcher was then lowered on twin ropes down the steeply sloping and densely wooded crag to the roadside, where the climber was transferred to her group’s vehicle for onward transportation to hospital.
