A group of Three Peaks walkers called North Yorkshire Police when one of the group (m, 33) went missing between Whernside summit and Philpin Lane after experiencing some difficulties. A team vehicle checked Philpin Lane up to the Hill Inn but failed to locate the missing walker. CRO team members, already on scene for Incident 47, were redeployed to search paths and ridges that the missing walker could have taken. The missing walker was eventually located on Ingleborough summit, having gotten well ahead without his group realising that he had passed them. A false alarm with good intent.
