INCIDENT 49/2023 JUN. 18th SUN. 10:15 MEALBANK QUARRY, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE. ANIMAL INCIDENT

On the previous day, a team member and a member of the public had spotted a lamb on a ledge near the top of Mealbank Quarry.  The lamb was left overnight to give it an opportunity to rescue itself, which is often the safest course for the animal.  When it did not do so, a small group attended and a team member was lowered to the lamb’s location.  The team member secured the lamb and they were hauled back up to the top of the quarry.  The lamb, which was uninjured, was released into the field well away from the quarry edge.
