A walker (f, 31) slipped from a stile at Pen y ghent summit, sustaining a knee/lower leg injury. Although she could continue a short distance, it was clear that she would not be able to walk off the hill. Two team Land Rovers and CRO 4 (the Honda Pioneer) took members up Horton Scar Lane, then CRO 4 continued to the finger-post on Pen y ghent Side. After initial assessment and treatment of the casualty, members requested a helicopter evacuation in the interest of patient comfort, then carried her, by stretcher, up the 300m to where YAA could land. The helicopter flew the patient to hospital and team vehicles took her companions to their car in Horton.
Patient Feedback: It was later learned that the casualty suffered no bone fractures, but serious ‘soft tissue’ damage.
