A party of three men contacted North Yorkshire Police to say that one of their team had become stuck fast in a bog on the Gragareth ridge, above Kingsdale. CRO despatched a small team to investigate. While competing in the Three Peaks Race, a runner (m, 20) tripped on the approach to the summit of Pen y ghent, having run up via Horton Scar Lane. When he fell forwards, he put an arm out to arrest the fall and, in doing so, dislocated a shoulder. RESCUE COVER for THREE PEAKS RACE. APR 29TH SAT.
A strong team of CRO members attended the 68th Annual Three Peaks Race, based at Horton in Ribblesdale, to carry out ‘kit checks’ on as many as practical of the 699 runners before the start of this ‘marathon with mountains’, then to provide rescue cover.
