A local man (78) collapsed while walking in fields near Selside with members of his family.  Sadly, despite the prolonged efforts of paramedics from two road ambulances and an air ambulance, he could not be revived. A would-be Three Peaks walker called for help when her Dobermann dog – normally good for hill-walking – went lame in one leg. Having walked over Whernside and Ingleborough, he would go no further on the West side of Pen y ghent.
