Incident 65/2017 – Sep. 2nd Sat. 09.28 – Pen y ghent, Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

A walker (m,68) felt unwell, approaching the summit of Pen y ghent, but continued to the top. Very soon after beginning the descent, he collapsed and lost consciousness. By coincidence, the next people to come along were all medical professionals, so when it was necessary they attempted CPR and kept it up, until relieved. Incident 63/2017 – Aug. 27th Sun. 14.53 – Baxenghyll Gorge, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

A walker (f,56) slipped on the path, sustaining an ankle / foot injury. After giving pain relief and applying a vacuum splint, team members carried her, by stretcher, up to Beezleys, where YAS paramedics assessed her injury. She was put into a road ambulance, which took her to the family car, in Ingleton. Her family then took her to a hospital nearer home, for an X-ray. Volunteer hours: 26

Incident 61/2017 – Aug. 24th Thu. 23.03 – Horton in Ribblesdale, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.

A group of three walkers (m,30, m,11 m,6) and dog were reported overdue from their camp-site in Horton, having set out at 12.30 to do some unspecified part of the Three Peaks Walk and with only water and sweets to sustain them. By chance, the Duty Controller’s wife had seen such a group two hours earlier, walking along the road near Selside, in the dark and with inadequate lights. She…
