NYF&RS asked for assistance in rescuing a large lamb which had fallen perhaps 9 or 10 metres from the top of Catrigg Foss and was stranded on a ledge between the upper and lower waterfalls. A team member abseiled down, caught the lamb and persuaded it into the animal bag. Team members and firefighters then hauled the lamb to the surface, in the bag, before releasing it over the fence…

INCIDENT 45/2022 JUN 21st TUE. 15.50 FLUTED HOLE, NEWBY MOSS, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT
A member of the public reported having seen a lamb stuck down a pothole on Newby Moss and provided a grid reference for the location. A small team of CRO members undertook a quick search of the general area and located the lamb, marooned down Fluted Hole. We descended the hole on ropes and the lamb was soon captured, hauled back to the surface and returned to liberty well away…

Walkers reported that a lamb was stranded, several metres down the quarry face. As it was on a broad ledge with an ample supply of grass, it was agreed that a small team would visit in the early evening.
