Four Three Peaks walkers reported themselves lost on the descent from Ingleborough to Horton in Ribblesdale. Initial attempts to pinpoint their location with W3W and phone find were unsuccessful due to limited phone coverage, however they were able to provide a grid reference which enabled their location to be established. INCIDENT 04/2025. JAN. 6th MON. 07.34 B6255 NEWBY HEAD MOSS, INGLETON

Two males were reported to be lost in a broken-down vehicle ‘between Hawes and Ribblehead’ and had been there for eight hours. As the first team members arrived near the Newby Head road junction, they found that the Police had arrived only a minute or two earlier. Two walkers (m, 25; f, 25) reported themselves lost and benighted on the summit plateau of Ingleborough. Having confirmed that they were at the summit shelter, the Duty Controller asked them to stay where they were and to keep as warm as possible.
