INCIDENT 74/2022  SEP. 10th SAT. 12.17 GORDALE SCAR, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

YAS called for CRO’s assistance when a walker (m, 65) was reported to have fallen 3m (10ft) from the waterfall at Gordale Scar, but was conscious and breathing. YAS paramedics from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance were first on scene and, having bandaged his head wound, discussed walking the patient carefully to a road ambulance near Gordale House. The first CRO vehicle and team members stood by near the scene, available to assist, if necessary. The second vehicle, with more team members, was held at Kirkby Malham ‘just in case’. When the patient had been walked slowly to the road ambulance, most team members stood down, but a few remained to maintain a safe zone around the helicopter as it spooled up and lifted off.
