INCIDENT 53 / 2024. JULY 29th 23.14hrs, MALHAM COVE, MALHAM, NORTH YORKSHIRE

The team were alerted by North Yorkshire Police to a lone walker (M, 53) who had found himself benighted and disorientated near the top of Malham Cove at the end of a long day’s walk, as he was returning to Malham. Finding himself on very steep ground with only a phone torch, he sensibly remained where he was and rang for assistance. Once located, a small team was mobilised and one of our members was able to walk to him relatively easily, escort him back to safe ground and the descent route back to Malham. He was reunited with his friends.

The light evenings will begin to get shorter from hereon and it is always a wise to idea to have a good torch with you. A small head torch is relatively inexpensive and can sit in the bottom of your bag until you need it!
