As team members were preparing for a social gathering where many would receive the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal and/or a certificate commemorating their length of service, a call was received to an accident at Malham. A visitor (m, 88) was being taken to the foot of the Cove in a wheelchair, but stood for a photograph on the stone clapper bridge across Malham Beck then fell, hit his head and was unable to get up again. By coincidence, this was seen by a member of Cleveland MRT, who stopped to assist. YAS paramedics were already in attendance when CRO members arrived; the patient was lifted onto a team stretcher, carried a very short distance to a Land Rover and driven down to the road ambulance, waiting at Town Head Farm.
