INCIDENT 26/2022 SAME DAY 12.40 WHERNSIDE, NORTH YORKSHIRE – MOUNTAIN INCIDENT

After the last runner had passed through the summit of Whernside, the CRO members who had been patrolling there began their descent towards Bruntscar, but soon came across an ascending party of four Three Peaks walkers, one of whom (m, 20) was struggling to walk. Earlier, he had sustained a leg injury on Ingleborough then aggravated it by continuing. The group having been persuaded to retire from their walk, the injured person was given mild pain relief then assisted part-way down, driven the rest of the way to the road-head and all were returned to their vehicle.  Before they got down, however  .  .
