INCIDENT 21/2026. APRIL 6th MONDAY 21.34hrs. PEN Y GHENT, HORTON IN RIBBLESDALE, NORTH YORKSHIRE

The team were alerted by North Yorkshire Police to a group of 3 walkers (all F, 63,63,33) who were stuck on the summit of Pen y Ghent, unable to get back down due to high winds. Initial contact with the party indicated they were sufficiently equipped, but very cold and unsure of the descent in the poor conditions. A small team of members was despatched  and drove up as far as possible via Horton Scar Lane before proceeding on foot to meet the party at the summit. After establishing they were in good spirits and warm enough to walk down, our members accompanied them back to the team vehicles and subsequently back to their vehicle in Horton. Everyone went home safely to bed! The end of a busy day for the Team!
