A walker (m, 38) slipped on the thawing ice surface of the field path between Hoffmann Kiln Lane and Langcliffe village, sustaining a lower leg fracture. On receiving the 999 call, YAS sent a road ambulance, whose crew ventured to within 100m of the casualty, then asked for CRO’s assistance in evacuating him. When the paramedics had treated the injured person, team members lifted him on to a Titan stretcher and carried him to the ambulance.This was reversed and assisted onto tarmac, with a little extra ‘manpower’ from the team, before taking the casualty to hospital
