NEW SERVICE FOR THREE PEAKS WALKERS

    From this Sunday, a new service will be launched to help walkers on the Yorkshire Three Peaks who can’t quite go the whole distance. By popular demand, an evening bus service is to be provided from Sulber Nick (see photograph) to Horton in Ribblesdale. Incident 5/2018 – Feb. 5th Mon. 15.49 Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue

On the summit of Ingleborough, a paraglider fell about 3 metres when his parachute stalled whilst he was taking off. He suffered a suspected fracture to an ankle. Remarkably, and with the generous help of passing walkers, the injured person had the tenacity to shuffle and slide a considerable way down from the summit. Saltaire Striders donate £800 to the team.

Mel Akeroyd of Saltaire Striders Running Club has supported our Ingleborough Challenge fundraising event for the last 5 years, since her sister was rescued by the team on Pen-y-ghent. She very kindly nominated the team for the running club’s annual charity donation, and on Thursday 7th December, 2 members of our team attended their Christmas meeting and were presented with a cheque for £800.
