A walker on an evening excursion from Settle to Ribblehead became lost after descending from the summit of Pen-y-ghent. During a brief and muffled telephone call, the CRO Duty Controller was only able to establish that the lost person had a fading torch battery, was beside a dry-stone wall and most likely located some distance from the summit in the direction of Horton-in-Ribblesdale. A 3-peaks walker slipped on wet rocks just below the summit of Pen-y-ghent. His fall caused an injury to his ankle – a suspected fracture. The injured walker telephoned for help, but also started to make his way down the hill after his ankle was strapped up by a passerby. INCIDENT 58/2018 – Sep. 7th Tue. 16.46hrs – Near Snow Falls, Ingleton Waterfalls Trail, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue
A walker (m,86) with several medical conditions and a history of back trouble was unable to complete the walk because of the pain. Having administered pain relief, team members carried the patient from just below Snow Falls up to Falls Park, at Beezleys, to await the arrival of a road ambulance for the journey to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary. A family visiting the waterfalls walk reported themselves lost in woodland. The CRO Duty Controller was able to contact the family on their mobile phone and established that they had found their way to Ingleton and were being directed to the waterfalls car park by a passerby. Volunteer hours: 0.5
