Five cavers (f, 18 – m,25) were reported overdue in Providence Pot, at 21.29 on Saturday. The afternoon’s rain had melted snow, causing a rapid rise in stream levels. A visitor (f, 71) was reported to have collapsed near Pecca Falls on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and to be sitting by Tom’s Cabin (refreshment kiosk). When team members arrived, she was not there and passers-by, when asked, had not seen anyone fitting the given description. Incident 8/2018 – Mar. 9th Thu. 14.20 Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue
A walker (m, 69) slipped and fell, immediately after leaving the Ingleborough summit plateau on the path towards Crina Bottom and Ingleton. His fall was witnessed by a mountain biker who phoned for help, then she was joined by a passing fell-runner, who used his own first aid kit to staunch the flow of blood from the deep scalp wound. A member of the public found unattended caving equipment near the resurgence at Keld Head, and raised concerns with the police. The duty controller attended the site with a constable, and after making enquiries established that the items had been left the previous day, and no persons were at risk.
