INCIDENT 60/2020 – Aug. 26th Wed. 22.01hrs – Horton Moor, Pen-y-ghent – Mountain Incident

The team were called by North Yorkshire Police to a report of a family (2 adults, 3 children + dog) who had become lost whilst descending Pen-y-ghent, and in danger of being benighted. The whole team was placed on standby in case a full search was required, but fortunately the daughter was able to download What 3 Words and provide a location. Following a brief phone call to the group, a small team accessed the moor from Horton in Ribblesdale, and found them cold but unharmed on the bridleway from Foxup, beyond Hull Pot. The family were escorted to a team vehicle and then driven down to their car at Horton, and the team were stood down.
