A walker (f, 49) was reported to have fallen on the path known as ‘the miners’ track’, to the North West of Pen y ghent summit, sustaining a head injury. As team members and a YAS road ambulance were en route, the walker’s husband told YAS that she had suffered a suspected broken arm but was being walked down Horton Scar Lane, towards the village and could be taken to hospital in the family car. The ambulance was stood down from this incident, as were several team members. However, one team vehicle, with casualty carers, was driven up the lane to meet the family group. On arriving at the road-head and being assessed, the casualty said she felt dizzy and a bit faint, so a YAS ambulance was re-called to take her to hospital
