A visitor (m, 48), sustained an ankle injury such that he could not put weight on it, following a slip on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail near Beezley Falls. He phoned for an ambulance, but some time later a more experienced walker advised that he should have asked for his 999 call to go to the Police and they should be asked for Mountain Rescue. She then did this on his behalf.
Team members assessed, then splinted the injured leg before carrying the casualty, by stretcher, a short distance to a more accessible place, arriving at precisely the same time as the YAS road ambulance. After handing over the patient, the team stood down.
