NYF&RS asked for assistance in rescuing a large lamb which had fallen perhaps 9 or 10 metres from the top of Catrigg Foss and was stranded on a ledge between the upper and lower waterfalls. INCIDENT 28/2022 SAME DAY. 16.15 MIDDLE SCAR, RIBBLEHEAD, NORTH YORKSHIRE – ANIMAL INCIDENT
A caver advised CRO, by a roundabout route, that he had found a sheep trapped in a gryke at Middle Scar near Ribblehead. The local CRO controller joined him and, together, they hoisted the animal onto the surface, unharmed.

A farmer had seen one of his sheep, apparently stranded on a ledge of Mealbank Quarry, on Sunday. He kept trying to tempt her back to safety by shaking a bag of sheep nuts, but eventually asked for CRO’s assistance. A small team set up an abseil and one member descended.
