A three peaks walker (f, 58) suffered severe pain while walking over Whernside. This became progressively worse and she began to vomit. By Simon Fell Breast (the path from Ingleborough to Sulber Nick), she could go no further, so a companion rang for help. When the duty controller phoned the group, he said that the team was on its way, but if the affected walker had rested a little it would be helpful if they could try to walk her gently along the path towards the old shooting hut. While they were doing this, he sent CRO 2 and CRO 3 Land Rovers to the Nick Pot area and the Honda Pioneer up from Newby. The walkers made slow but steady progress and were met by team members who had jogged up from the vehicles, carrying rescue kit in case of a relapse. All made it safely back to CRO 3 and were driven down to Austwick where the walkers’ friends (including a doctor) would meet them with transport.
