INCIDENT 04/2022 – JANUARY 18th TUE. 16.01  BOTTOM WOOD, ROEBURNDALE, LANCASHIRE – LOCAL INCIDENT

One side of a bridge sagged under the weight of an ATV and trailer carrying a number of people* across it. The bridge deck twisted and the ATV and trailer slid sideways, falling about three metres into the watercourse at Bottom Wood, Roeburndale. It is understood that one person died at the scene, one sustained head injuries and one a spinal injury. Others were less seriously injured or just badly shaken. Of the many resources which had been sent, NWAS and GNAA paramedics were first on scene and dealt with the live but badly injured casualties. Meanwhile Police, Fire & Rescue, Ambulance Service and CRO vehicles and personnel were held at the road-head, pending further instructions. When all living casualties had been evacuated from the casualty site, CRO members, including some in swift-water PPE, assisted the investigating Police officers with transportation and lighting, then took the deceased to the road-head for the hand-over to the undertaker.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    FATAL
