Incident 98/2016 – Dec. 29th Thu. 13.50 – Ingleborough, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.
A walker (m,38) slipped on ice descending from Ingleborough on the steep section towards the Hill Inn, and sustained a suspected dislocated knee. Team members responded and provided pain relief, before moving the casualty on a stretcher to flatter ground on Humphrey Bottom. The team were called by Cumbria Police to a walker (f,62) with a reported broken leg, approximately 300m above the road in Barbondale. Team members arrived on scene just after the North West Air Ambulance which, due to high winds, was unable to land near the casualty, having instead to touch down near the road. A walker (m, 31), who had set off from Horton in Ribblesdale at 12.40, to walk the northern end of the Ribble Way, reported himself lost and benighted in low cloud near Cam Houses. A CRO Land Rover was able to drive to within easy walking distance of him, despite the complexity of recent timber extraction routes in Cam Woodlands.
