An in-lamb ewe was reported to be stranded on a ledge at Ingleton’s former limestone quarry. A text trawl of team members showed insufficient volunteers for the afternoon, so the rescue was planned for that evening. However . . . . .

Incident 1/2018 – Jan. 8th Mon. 13.10 Moughton Scar, Crummackdale, North Yorkshire – Animal Rescue
The team’s first call of 2018 occurred when we were contacted by a local farmer, concerned for a sheep that had become stuck about 40 foot up a crag. A small team attended and met with the farmer, and then proceeded to extricate the sheep. The sheep was returned to it’s flock on the fell unharmed. Volunteer hours: 15
Incident 72/2017 – Sep. 21st Thu. 14.36 – Colt Park, Ingleton, North Yorkshire – Animal Rescue.
Following a search of mixed grassland and limestone pavement by farmers and local volunteers from Natural England, an in-calf, pedigree heifer was reported missing from a small herd near Colt Park, Ribblehead. A caver reported that a sheep was stranded down Fluted Hole (which turned out to be Rosebay Pot), on Newby Moss. A small team attended and recovered the sheep, releasing it, unharmed, onto the fell. Volunteer hours: 11
