An HM Coastguard search and rescue helicopter, operated by Bristow’s, arrived at Ribblehead today as part of a practice with CRO. Bristow’s last attended an incident with CRO on 15th November, when their aircraft developed a fault and had to be rescued itself (see recent incident report) By way of thank you to CRO for their help, Bristow’s recently made a significant donation to the team.
Incident 01/2016 – January 3rd Sun 13.02 – Lane near Scar End, Ingleton
A walker (m, 47) slipped on the track between Kingsdale and Twisleton Hall, sustaining a painful knee / upper leg injury. He was very cold and, after the leg was splinted and he was given pain relief, he was taken by CRO Land Rover to be handed over to YAS paramedics and transported to hospital in their road ambulance. Helicopter Away!
G-MCGJ finally got airborne about lunchtime today, and has now returned to her base in Caernarfon. Good work by the technicians and aircrew, Lawson’s Crane services and ourselves providing manpower and lower tech support as needed. Total volunteer hours: 246
Helicopter Rescued
The Rescue Helicopter which had been in the Dales since the weekend has now been repaired and lifted out of the mud. It is now on a level platform waiting for a crew to (hopefully) fly her away tomorrow.
