CRO were contacted by NYP regarding a dog that had fallen into the river near Pecca Falls on the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail. NYP had also alerted NYFRS who were also mobilised to attend the incident. A full team callout was initialised. A hasty party including a CRO DC set off to locate the dog (F, 8YO) and her owners. Fortunately, the casualty had managed to get herself out of the water and was on a ledge approximately 2m above the water. NYFRS were also on scene moments later, and between the two teams, a plan for the rescue was formed. CRO established a rope rescue system and NYFRS provided water safety cover by putting swiftwater rescue technicians in the water downstream of the incident scene.
A CRO team member was lowered down the the casualty site and the casualty (Penny) was hauled back up the gorge where she was reunited with her owners.
