INCIDENT 25/2026. APRIL 11TH SATURDAY 13.51 HRS. WHERNSIDE, INGLETON, NORTH YORKSHIRE

North Yorkshire Police called the team regarding a father and young son close to the summit of Whernside who were struggling on steep ground and extremely wet and cold.  After speaking to the father, a small CRO team were asked to RV on the Kingsdale to Dent road to head up to Whernside summit.  As the hill party was getting ready to deploy, the Duty Controller determined that the father and son had joined another group of walkers heading back down to Ribblehead. The hill party stood down and a team vehicle headed round to Ribblehead Viaduct to meet up with the walkers. The father and son were warmed in the Land Rover and checked over by a team Remote Rescue Medical Technician before being returned to their own vehicle.
