Two walkers (m,27 f,25) with a dog, contacted police for guidance when they became disoriented whilst walking off Ingleborough. Although well equipped, they had lost confidence in their navigation in the dark. 4 walkers (3m, 25, 1f, 14) with 2 dogs became disoriented in mist whilst walking on Ingleborough. The walkers were able to contact the police via mobile roaming, but were unable to give an accurate location. Incident 95/2016 – Nov. 30th Wed. 13.39 – Crummackdale, Austwick, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.
The team were called to a walker with a knee injury (m,17) in Crummack Dale. The team mobilised, but were quickly stood down whilst en route, as the casualty’s companions informed North Yorkshire Police that they had assisted the injured male off the fell, and would transport him to hospital themselves. Incident 93/2016 – Nov. 22nd Tue. 16.02 – Pen-y-ghent, North Yorkshire – Mountain Rescue.
The team were called to a walker (f,41) suffering respiratory distress whilst climbing Pen-y-ghent. On arrival, team members found the casualty (with her walking partner) to be in a very distressed state, near the top of the crags at the south of the mountain. The walker and her partner were made safe, and moved to gentler ground near the ridge, and their dog was led down the crag to safety…
